Creating a beautiful site is useless unless someone knows it's there. Search Engines allow people to find your site among the millions of other sites. Listing your site with Search Engines is the single most important thing you can do to make your site a success. What do Search Engines do? A search engine Lycos, Alta Vista, Yahoo, etc, searches the database of registered web sites to find exactly (or very close to it) what you are looking for. The more detail the user enters about their interest, the more precise a match. How do Search Engines work? Most search engines read data on web pages by looking at Meta Tags. These tags contain words and phrases that are directly related to the page contents. An Example of a Keyword and Description Meta Tag would be (construction, Brandon, Florida, licensed, incorporated, commercial, residential, renovations, remodeling, concrete, fully insured, kitchens, bathrooms, dens, business name) What are the benefits of Search Engines? Search engines will greatly increase traffic to your site. They allow prospective clients to enter in exactly what they are looking for and the results will lead them to your company site. Allowing prospective clients to locate your pages through Search Engines is like getting your foot in the door. Ways to get top positioning with Search Engines: 1. List of about 50 keywords and phrases that your clients would use to search for you and your products or services. 2. The keywords or phrases should appear early in the page, page title and description tag. This normally scores high on search engine ratings. 3. Repeat the keywords or phrases no more than 7 times in a page. Repeating the keywords will not work because grammatical structure also plays a part. 4. Keep the ratio of keywords to other words under 10% of your page content. 5. Create door-way pages, one for each product or service you offer. Door-way pages are not spamming, they are legitimate pages that contain content that people are searching for. They work extremely well. 6. Cross-linking links to all the other pages and sites you may have. The best way to do this is create a 1x1 transparent gif. This creates a self maintaining stickiness. Now if the search engine throws out all but 2 or 3 of your pages, the pages that stuck will have links to all your other pages and the crawler will find them again. 7. Submit your pages to search engines often. They will contribute to a large amount of your traffic. 8. Get more than one site, mirror the content, have more than one domain with door way pages and cross-link everything with invisible pixels.
